Hey there. I haven't blogged in almost a month, but I HAVE been running. And while I have a couple of tidbits to share about recent runs, I first want to share this video. This is a video of my pastor, Bobby Herrell of Cornerstone Baptist Church, talking about our church's mission model, called Global Effects. CBC was invited to a special assembly of local Baptist pastors in the north Texas area because our church's mission model is highly successful. Please take a look and see why I'm running for India.

My weekly long runs have been starting to increase. Last weekend I ran 7.5 miles, or as I like to think of it- a quarter-marathon. (Yeah, the math doesn't quite add up, but this is running, not rocket surgery class.) This weekend I was supposed to run a 10 miler ...(*gulp*)... well, I didn't feel ready to take that on, so I'm splitting it into two 5 mi runs today and tomorrow, and as of this post, I'm half-way done. Runner's World frequently tells runners to adopt flexibility in their schedules and feel free to chop up long runs, so that's what I've done here.
I feel like I've had lots of little "running moments" on my various runs over the last month. Last night I stepped off a curb into some gushy mud sludge and lost my balance for a split second, doing one of those arm-reeling dances right in front of a pair of headlights at a red light. Classy. At least I didn't go down.
A few nights before that I had a loose dog encounter. He saw me and started pacing me. I had my music on, so I have no idea if he was barking or what, (yeah, I jam pretty loud) but he didn't seem aggressive. I was just worried about getting tripped up. He had no owners in sight, but after probably half a minute he gave up chase.
Then there was the night I KNEW we had rain on the way, but I went out anyway, trying to beat it. Almost. I got caught in a good downpour in the last half mile in and got soaked. The joys of running!
